Custom Hang Tag Printing

Hang tags are small and get handled constantly, which makes two things go wrong. Fine detail disappears at two inches across, and the punch hole lands on top of the logo because the design was built without accounting for it. A dedicated Print Concierge checks your file at actual size, looking at whether small type still reads, whether the artwork clears the hole position, and whether the background carries past the cut on a shaped tag. On a run of a thousand tags, catching that first is worth the extra day.

All three cost the same, so pick on what the tag has to carry.

• Rounded rectangle, 2 x 3.5: the most usable shape. Room for a logo, a price, a size and care instructions without crowding. The default for clothing and retail.
• Square, 2 x 2: compact and modern. Good for a logo-led tag on gifts, handmade goods and food packaging where you are not writing much.
• Circular, 2.5 x 2.5: stands out on a rail full of rectangles, which is the point. Harder to lay out, since a design centred visually in a square looks off inside a circle.

Both sides print in full colour at no extra charge, and leaving the back blank is the most common miss on hang tags. The front is your brand: logo, name, and as little else as you can manage. The back is where the practical information goes, and it is the side a customer actually turns over to read. Sizing, materials, care instructions, a barcode, a QR code to a product page, or a short line about where the thing was made. On handmade and premium goods that back panel does real selling work, because it is the moment someone is deciding whether the price is justified.

Send a print-ready PDF at 300 DPI in CMYK with 0.125 inch bleed on every edge.

• Keep text and logos at least 0.125 inch inside the cut line. On a 2 inch tag that margin is proportionally large, so design for it from the start.
• Tell us in the notes where you want the punch hole, and keep artwork clear of it. Top centre is standard.
• Avoid type below about 6pt and hairline rules. Neither survives at this scale.
• String and fasteners are not included; tell us if you need them and we will quote.
